Chalice Handbell Team

The team was founded by Eleanor and Geoff Marchant. The idea of "Chalice" for the team name was taken from the Yatton Moor "Logo" , consisting of the initial letters of the Parishes : K = Kenn, K = Kingston Seymour, Y = Yatton, C = Claverham and C = Cleeve. These initials were put together in the form of a chalice, with Y being the stem and cup, with forward and backward Ks at the top forming handles. The forward and backwards Cs at the bottom form the scrolled foot.

Since the beginning of 2020 and Covid our activities have been considerably reduced, though we have continued to meet socially and practise whenever possible. At Christmas 2022 we visited Somerset House and Strawberry Gardens in Yatton, where we rang a selection of Carols for the Residents who joined in with the singing.
Unfortunately we had to cancel a visit planned for later in the year due to illness.

Ĺast year (2023) we again visited these two venues before Christmas with a Carol singing session. We also made our first visit to Cadbury Hall (formerly Yatton Hall).

We hope to visit the places again soon with a varied programme of traditional and well known songs and music.

New members are always warmly welcome, especially as the team has been somewhat reduced in numbers, mainly by various illnesses. There is no need to be able to read music as we play by numbers. All you need is enthusiasm, though a sense of rhythm helps.
